The resort is 20 minutes away from the international airport at Malaga, and easily accessible to sandy beaches of Fuengirola (5 minute drive), and the lively resorts of Marbella, Benalmadena, Puerto Banus and the historic town of Granada.

Local Travel

Local taxis are available if you don't want to drive, but if you do want to travel further afield, there are plenty of car hire companies to choose from.

If driving and taxis doesn't appeal to you, then don't miss the famous Mijas (donkey) taxis, carrying scores of tourists around the village every day - they must be the most photographed donkeys in Spain.

Local Information

The apartment is a short drive from the sandy beaches of Fuengirola and Mijas Costa, and is also centrally located for easy access to other local attractions including the Mijas Aqua Park, the cable cars at Benalmadena and also Puerto Banus, famous for it's marina, designer shops and trendy nightlife.

Language

The local people are extremely friendly and speak excellent English, but native tongue is Spanish.

Shopping

The apartment is within walking distance of a local restaurant, bar and shop which will provide all your essential needs. The larger supermarkets, shops and amenities that you would expect in a large town can be found a short drive away in Fuengirola. If your tastes are more exclusive, designer shops abound in Marbella and Puerto Banus, both of which are 20km away.

Attractions

The Mijas Aqua Park is right at the centre of the Costa del Sol, on the Fuengirola by-pass and has exciting attractions for the whole family. The rides are some of the wildest and wettest, but if you don't fancy that, there's also the jacuzzi or Blue Pool where you can relax and just soak up the sun. For more information, click on the Aqua Park logo or visit: - www.aquamijas.com

The White Villages or "Pueblos Blancos" are located in an area to the west of Ronda. These are about two dozen working hilltop villages where the way of life has hardly changed for centuries. If you would like to tour this area, try to pick up Los Pueblos Blancos de la Costa del Sol guide from the Malaga Tourist Office. It is available in both Spanish and English.

Mijas Pueblo is situated in the lowlands of the Sierra de Mijas mountain range and surrounded by pine forest. Mijas has managed to retain much of its "white village" charm, with narrow winding streets, dazzling whitewashed walls and breathtaking views. There are dozens of small shops with gifts made by local artisans and a large choice of tapas bars and restaurants.

Situated in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, Granada was once the capital of a Moorish kingdom. A visit to Andalucia cannot possibly be complete without seeing the famous Alhambra Palace, a Moorish royal palace straight out of One Thousand and One Nights.
